AI ESG Reporting Software

AI ESG Reporting Software That Reads Your Own Documents

Formist is an AI agent with 26 regulated deliverables in its skill library: CBAM, the GHG Protocol, CSRD/ESRS, CDP, ISO 14083, EU Taxonomy, ISSB/IFRS S2, LCA and more. It reads the invoices, meter readings, supplier data and shipment papers a team already has, and fills out the disclosure it is accountable for, citing the document it read each figure from as it works.

How a filing actually gets made

The same four-step mechanism runs underneath all 26 deliverables in the library.

  1. You connect or upload the source documents

Invoices, meter readings, supplier certificates, shipment papers and the knowledge base your team already has, read as they are rather than retyped into a form.

  2. Formist maps the content to the framework’s own structure

A figure lands in the exact field a filing needs, CBAM’s CN codes, an ESRS datapoint, one of IFRS S2’s four pillars, with the document it came from cited in the conversation.

  3. You review the draft before anything is written

Every change arrives as a proposal with its sources attached. You approve, amend or reject it, and only an approved change lands in the output.

  4. Formist exports the file the framework needs

An XBRL-JSON datapoint file, a validated XML declaration package, an Excel workbook or a structured disclosure draft, depending on which deliverable you are filing.

How the AI actually reports

Reads your own documents

Invoices, meter readings, supplier certificates and shipment papers, not a manual data entry form.

Shows its sources in chat

As it reads an invoice, meter reading or shipment paper, Formist cites it in the conversation, so you can check where a number came from before approving the output.

Works inside the AI you already use

Formist runs an MCP server: connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client and the skills become tools your assistant can call.

Structured validation

Data populates into structured fields, which the AI validates, looking up emission factors and flagging issues before export.

What it reports on

Twenty-six regulated deliverables, each with its own standards citations and FAQ.

CBAM

Drafts and validates a declaration package and the Communication Template, for importers and non-EU installations.

GHG Protocol

A Scope 1, 2 and 3 corporate inventory workbook with year over year comparison.

CSRD/ESRS

ESRS datapoint mapping, gap analysis and an XBRL-JSON datapoint file.

CDP

A pre-populated response for the CDP Full Corporate Questionnaire.

EU Taxonomy

Alignment screening and Turnover/CapEx/OpEx disclosure tables.

ISSB / IFRS S2

A four-pillar climate disclosure: Governance, Strategy, Risk and Metrics.

A worked example: a GHG Protocol Scope 2 line

Illustrative only, not a real company’s filing.

Source document
An electricity invoice for March 2026, 42,000 kWh
Formist reads
Usage (kWh) and billing period from the invoice
Applies
The grid emission factor for that utility and year
Drafts
A Scope 2 line in the GHG inventory workbook, location based and market based
You see in chat
"Scope 2, March 2026: read from Invoice_March2026.pdf" before approving

Illustrative only. In a real filing, Formist cites the source document for a figure in the chat conversation, and you approve before it is written into the file.

What stays yours

The filing itself

Formist drafts and validates the output. Actually filing it, such as uploading a CBAM declaration to the EU’s own portal or arranging iXBRL tagging and assurance for a CSRD report, is a step you or your filing agent still takes.

Assurance and verification

Where a framework requires third party verification, such as CBAM’s EU accredited verifier, that engagement sits outside Formist. It calculates from the verified data and evidence you give it.

When the data is not there

A required figure is missing

Formist asks for it rather than estimating. A disclosure with a genuine gap gets a flagged list of what is still needed, not a filled in guess.

A number does not reconcile

If a figure contradicts another document it already read, Formist raises the conflict in the conversation so you can resolve it, rather than silently picking one.

Frequently asked questions

What makes this AI ESG reporting software rather than a template library?

Formist reads your own source documents and drafts the filing itself, citing what it read as it works. A template library still needs a person to find and enter every number by hand.

Which ESG and sustainability frameworks does it support?

CBAM, GHG Protocol, CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, CDP, ISSB/IFRS S2, ISO 14083, LCA and more, 26 regulated deliverables in total.

Can it connect to the AI assistant our team already uses?

Yes. Formist runs an MCP server. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client and the skills become tools your assistant can call.

How do I know a figure in the report is correct?

Formist cites the document it read a figure from, an invoice, a meter reading or a shipment paper, in the conversation, and every change it proposes is something you review and approve before it is written into the output.
